                              LASER GRADING

Laser Grading is without a doubt the premium method of establishing a finish grade whether it is for a golf course tee, a soccer field or an NFL football field.

Florida Carter has a dual slope laser that provides input for a fully automatic laser over hydraulic system on a 4wd grading tractor.  When the job requires heavy cutting it can be fitted to heavy equipment such as the Caterpillar D-6 Dozer below balancing a site for 6 soccer fields and 2 football fields.

How Does it work?  The transmitter shown above emits a plane of laser light invisible to the human eye.  The plane or "blanket" of laser light extends in all directions covering a diameter of approximately 1 mile.  The plane can be tilted in up to 2 directions hence the term dual slope laser.

A receiver mounted on a piece of equipment senses or "receives" the laser signal.  Microprocessors then calculate the piece of equipment's elevation relative to the plane of laser light and either makes corrections to the equipment's cutting edge automatically or if in manual mode L.E.D.  lights on a monitor tell the operator whether to raise or lower the cutting edge.  It's like having an infinite number of grade stakes blanketing the entire project.

All of this technology is fantastic, however it does not take the operator completely out of the quotient.  It just allows him to do precision work not possible with conventional grading methods.
